Tsutomu

HONOLULU, OAHU, HAWAII — ACTIVE YEARS 2010 – PRESENT

Garrett Lee, founder of Tsutomu Lures, came to lure-making through tuna. A dyed-in-the-wool ahi fisherman, he established Tsutomu in 2010 and originally focused on tuna lures, drawing on his own time on the water to refine every shape. Soft-spoken, keen-eyed, and detail-obsessed, he runs a Honolulu shop where he and his crew approach the craft as seriously as anyone in the islands.

His inspirations trace a clear line through the Hawaiian tradition: his uncle, Mike Lee, and the master Dennis Odagiri — both fish-head-insert makers — got him started, and he holds Odagiri, Koya, Steve Coggin, Gary Yamamoto, and Lon Tanigawa in the highest regard. That tuna pedigree shows in his signature Aku Fo Real H1 bullet, which reflects his bait-matching background yet has proven itself on marlin as well, excelling in the shotgun position. His small bullets have accounted for ahi from 255 to 300 pounds, and his lineup — H1 bullets, inverts, the 14-inch Moke, and 12-inch scoops — has produced thousand-pound marlin too.

As a museum and archive, we're honored to document Garrett Lee and Tsutomu Lures, a tuna-bred name earning its place in the Hawaiian lineage.

Notable shapes: Aku Fo Real H1 Bullet, Bigeye/GT bullets, 9" and 12" Invert, 14" Moke, 12" Scoop
