Pete's Lures

HONOLULU, OAHU, HAWAII — ACTIVE YEARS 1990s – 2021

Pete's Lures were the work of Peter Chun, a Honolulu maker who built incredible lures — genuinely hard to find today. Beyond the quality of the baits themselves, one of Chun's most lasting marks on the scene is the makers he brought along: he was the respected mentor who taught Lon Tanigawa and Marc Wood (Pok'eye), passing the craft to a new generation of admired Oʻahu lure makers.

Peter Chun has sadly passed away. Out of respect for him and his wishes, we remember him here simply by his name and his work — a fine maker and a generous teacher whose influence carries on through the makers he mentored.

As a museum and archive, we're honored to preserve the memory of Peter Chun and Pete's Lures — a gifted Honolulu maker whose legacy lives on through the craftsmen he taught.
