Papa

HONOLULU, OAHU, HAWAII

Papa Lures were sold in Hawaii stores long ago by a maker remembered for his fish-head insert. Little is documented today — by local account his first name was Clarence — and he passed away many years ago, which makes any surviving Papa lure a rare vintage piece.

As a museum and archive, we're honored to document "Papa," an early Honolulu maker whose fish-head-insert lures are a rare piece of island history.

Notable shapes: Heads with a fish-head insert

Identification tips:

  • "Papa" lures; the fish-head insert is the signature
  • A vintage Honolulu maker (first name Clarence, by account); long out of production

Below, you’ll find our ever-growing digital archive showcasing every lure that has come through our shop. This collection is constantly evolving as new lures arrive, making it a living record of rare, limited-production lures. We will continue updating this database regularly, building what we aim to be the largest digital archive of offshore trolling lures in the world.
