Oodood
HAWAII — ACTIVE FROM 2006 · NEVER SOLD COMMERCIALLY
Oodood Lures have never been sold in a store. Since 2006, the maker behind Oodood has built his lures only for family and friends — which makes them scarce, coveted, and largely unknown outside the circle lucky enough to fish them.
What sets Oodood apart is the style. His lures were modeled after the famous Daiwa Saltiga lures — the high-performance Japanese big-game designs — and represented a real breakthrough in bringing that kind of lure to life by hand. That breakthrough rippled outward: within the community, Oodood's work is credited as an early spark for the Saltiga-style lures that makers like Kahea and Niiyama became known for, and even for Bonze's "Weapon X." For a maker who never sold a single lure commercially, that's an outsized mark on the craft.
Identification Tips:
- "Oodood Lures"; Saltiga-style handmade lures — a departure from the classic Hawaiian resin trolling head
- Never sold commercially — family-and-friends only, since 2006; genuine examples are very rare
