Minano

WAKE ISLAND — ACTIVE YEARS 1970s – (ended long ago)

Minano is among the more mysterious names in this archive — a maker who built his lures on remote Wake Island, far out in the Pacific. Not much is known about him, but his real-fish-head bullet lures survive, including one in our collection dated 1979. His lure-making appears to have ended a very long time ago, which makes any genuine Minano a rare find.

As a museum and archive, we're honored to document Minano, a Wake Island maker whose real-fish-head lures are a rare and intriguing piece of Pacific lure history.

Notable shapes: Real-fish-head bullet lures

Identification tips:

  • "Minano's Fishing Lure"; real-fish-head bullet shapes
  • Made on Wake Island — a rare and unusual origin point
