Marlin Magic

KONA, HI
ACTIVE YEARS 1980'S - PRESENT

Marlin Magic Lures was established in 1980 in Kona, Hawaiʻi, through the partnership of Captain Marlin Parker and lure craftsman Gary Eoff. Built on hands-on fishing experience and precision handmade production, the company quickly became a major name in offshore trolling. Over the decades, Marlin Magic has grown into one of the best-known handmade lure brands in the sportfishing world, with a reputation for producing lures that consistently perform in tournament and charter settings.

The Parker name was already part of fishing history long before Marlin Parker began his own career. In 1954, his father, Captain George Parker, landed a legendary 1,002-pound blue marlin, one of the early “grander” catches that helped establish Kona as a global center for big-game fishing. That catch became a defining moment not only for George Parker’s legacy, but for the next generation—Marlin Parker was literally named after the fish that made his father famous.

Marlin Parker earned his own place in the record books after becoming a captain in 1976. He quickly proved himself on the water with a 1,257-pound blue marlin, and later landed an even larger fish—a 1,400-pound blue marlin, still ranked among the largest ever caught on rod and reel. Alongside these historic catches, Parker built an elite tournament career, including major wins such as the 2002 World Cup and the HIBT in Kona in 2003.

The success of Marlin Magic Lures reflects the strengths of both founders. Gary Eoff provided the design and craftsmanship behind the lures themselves, while Marlin Parker brought decades of offshore expertise and an understanding of what it takes to raise and hook fish in real Kona conditions. Together, they created a brand that has become closely tied to the modern history of Hawaiian trolling lures—known worldwide for quality, effectiveness, and a legacy built on proven results.
