Kip Taylor

KONA, HAWAII — ACTIVE YEARS 1980s – 2000s

Kip Taylor was a Kona fisherman who began making lures in the 1980s or '90s. He's best remembered for his flat-head shapes, which earned a following both in Kona and in Australia and accounted for some notably big fish. With the line now vintage, genuine Kip Taylor lures are collected and prized by those who know them.

As a museum and archive, we're honored to document Kip Taylor, a Kona fisherman-maker whose flat-head lures left their mark on two ocean fisheries.

Notable shapes: Flat-head lures (e.g., a 14" Large Flat Head)
