Gaji

OAHU, HAWAII — ACTIVE YEARS 2000s – PRESENT

Allan Sato makes Gaji Lures on Oʻahu. His lures have proven themselves across Hawaii's pelagics — tuna, ahi, mahi, ulua, uku, and aku — and among the things he does is encase a real sardine inside the clear resin head of some of his fish-head lures, so the baitfish look comes from an actual fish rather than from paint. It's a neat, hands-on touch.

He also makes jetted designs, including the "Cage," which is jetted with three tubes for added turbulence and bubble trail, and he works in versatile mid-size heads (nine inches is common) that fish well across the board.

As a museum and archive, we're honored to document Allan Sato and Gaji Lures, a contemporary Oʻahu maker. (Swap in your distributor line if you carry the brand.)

Notable shapes: Fish-head lures (some with a real sardine set in the resin), the "Cage" (three-tube jetted design), 9" heads

Identification tips:

  • Identify by the "Gaji Lures" branding and by provenance
  • Some of his fish heads feature a real sardine set in the resin
  • Jetted multi-tube designs like the Cage
