Fountain Lures
KAUAI, HAWAII — ACTIVE YEARS 1980s – PRESENT
Steven Fountain has been a fisherman all his life, and lure-making came naturally — he started experimenting and hand-crafting lures back in his college days, and in time that grew into Fountain Lures, a Kauai operation built on a simple idea: designed by a fisherman, for fishermen.
Working in the traditional materials — resin, brass tubing, and lead — Fountain became one of Kauai's respected makers, his lures carried at Hawaii shops like POP Fishing & Marine and prized as rare finds when they surface. He's known for solid corner baits and shapes proven in Kauai's waters.
As a museum and archive, we're honored to document Steven Fountain and Fountain Lures, part of Kauai's lure-making tradition. (Swap in your distributor line if you carry the brand.)
Notable shapes: Corner baits, plungers, and bullets in resin with brass tube (specific model names to be confirmed)
Identification tips:
- Resin-and-brass-tube Kauai builds under the "Fountain Lures" name
- Relatively limited output — treated as rare finds
Below, you’ll find our ever-growing digital archive showcasing every lure that has come through our shop. This collection is constantly evolving as new lures arrive, making it a living record of rare, limited-production lures. We will continue updating this database regularly, building what we aim to be the largest digital archive of offshore trolling lures in the world.
